You should be prepared for visiting an ill family member or friend.
You have to keep in mind the patient‘s condition. Choose a reasonable time and duration of the visit (we adhere to the visiting hours). We recommend limiting the number of visitors at a time to two.
Try to come in a positive mood and we are willing to listen to all concerns of the ill person.
Calm the patient down, cheer them up, support their self-confidence and will to life.
You should not try to have a cheerful conversation at all costs, do not mention serious problems.
Notice whether the ill person is tired or not. If so, make the visit shorter.
Do not refuse their expression of pity, fear and resignation. It is healthy to let these feeling out.
Take into consideration other patients. In case that another patient is in a bad condition, a doctor or nurse is carrying out an examination or another operation, leave the room.
If you decide to bring something, consider its suitability. Do not forget to ask the staff if it is suitable for the patient.
When saying good-bye, mention whether and when we come again. Keep the promise.
